Professional photo booth companies will have their own high quality photo booth props (at least they should). Those props will use professional grade dowel rods and high quality stiffened felt or an equivalent material for the actual prop. But what about the DIYers? Where can you get your hands on some inexpensive props for your wedding, party or event?
The answer seems to be printable photo booth props.
There are many sources online for free printable props, if you just search for them. If those don't work for you, consider spending a little bit of money for ones you find on ETSY. There are tons of handmade shops who design printable props at very reasonable prices.

Wreck-It Ralph Photo Booth
Whether or not you've seen the movie Wreck-It Ralph, you'll appreciate this brilliant advertising for the film. If you like photo booths,
you'll love it even more. The geniuses who built this thing found the
marketing sweet spot of generating interest, receiving free press, and
getting the public invested.
It works like a regular photo booth that turns your image into an 8-bit arcade-style image and emails it right to you. There are more pictures of how it works and you can read more about the booth here.

3-D Printing Photo Booth Makes a Little You
One of the coolest things to come about in the past few years in the
field of design and engineering is 3-D printing. You can see a cool
example here. So as the question goes, what do you get when you cross a photo booth with a 3-D printer?
The answer is one of the coolest photo booth applications we've ever seen. Basically you get inside this thing and take your photos but instead of photo booth strips, you get a 3-dimensional "action figure" of... yourself.
Check out more details here.
